Do Your Media Choices Impact
Your Sexual Choices?
C.J. Hitz holds nothing back as he creatively challenges young people to purity. Starting with purity of the mind.
We've all heard the saying, "Garbage in, Garbage out."
And yet, day after day, we continue to feed our minds with sexually explicit content in our music, TV shows, movies, video games, internet, etc.
In Media Talk 101, C.J. equips teens with 10 Principles and Convictions...to help
guide them safely past the spiritual roadblocks of popular media. This includes the counterfeit that "Sex before and outside marriage is okay and
everyone is doing it." C.J. will share powerful illustrations and video clips to share God's Truth on these topics, including sexual purity and abstinence.
Many teen abstinence speakers focus on behavioral modification, but Media Talk 101 goes straight to the heart.
Proverbs 4:23, "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life."
Guys and Girls Breakout Sessions
When it comes to teen abstinence speakers and topics regarding sexual purity, C.J. and Shelley Hitz work best as a team. One of the things they
enjoy doing with a group of young people is to break them up into separate groups for breakout sessions....the guys go with C.J. and the girls
with Shelley. This way, they are able to address some topics that are specific to each gender.
For example, C.J. discusses the topic of pornography and sex in his breakout session. Unfortunately, pornography is a growing problem among
teen boys. But, C.J. is able to relate to guys as he shares from his own personal struggle to overcome pornography in his past. Empowered
with practical tools, he has seen accountability groups form organically out of these breakout sessions.
At the same time, Shelley takes the girls and shares on the topic of finding your true beauty. Many girls fall into the trap of feeling the
pressure to look a certain way to gain their self worth and to please guys. Shelley reveals the lies of the media, the lies of the
enemy and shares God's truth in an inspiring way that touches hearts. Girls are challenged to honor God with their bodies in regards to fashion
and the way they dress, and ultimately challenged to find their true beauty in their Creator...not in their mirror.
Fixing a Generations Eyes Back on Christ
Ultimately, what C.J. and Shelley hope to do through their ministry as teen abstinence speakers is to set a generations' eyes back on Christ through
Media Talk 101 and their break out sessions.
Hebrews 12:1-2 says, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin
that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of
our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
